reSURGEnce seeks to strengthen Black and under-represented businesses and communities by creating practical pathways to growth, investment and economic participation. The initiative focuses on turning connections into opportunities — from procurement, sales and marketing and global trade, to entrepreneurship training, mentorship, business-to-business exchange, investment partnerships, city twinning and government collaboration. The ultimate vision is to contribute to a stronger economic future for Africa and the global Black community by building the relationships, resources and opportunities needed for sustainable business growth and community development.
Durban 2026 brings this vision to the heart of one of Africa’s most dynamic urban centres. The conference is designed as a platform for investment, enterprise development, international trade, entrepreneurship and city regeneration, with a particular focus on strengthening opportunities for Black- and women-owned businesses and under-represented communities. The Durban programme seeks to connect local enterprises with investors, global businesses, government and corporate opportunities, while strengthening economic links between Africa and the African Diaspora.

reSURGEnce is designed to move beyond dialogue and create tangible opportunities. Key initiatives include increasing access to capital and investment, strengthening business-to-business partnerships, connecting African products with global markets, supporting entrepreneurship and SME growth, and exploring major catalytic projects that can contribute to infrastructure and urban development. The Durban 2026 concept also includes a Pitch Competition designed to connect small and micro-sized enterprises with potential investors and partners while providing practical training in dealmaking, pitching, funding and equity formation. Another proposed outcome is the development of a global marketplace for African products, creating a pathway for qualifying manufacturers, distributors and entrepreneurs in Africa and the Diaspora to reach customers and markets around the world.
A defining feature of reSURGEnce is its commitment to strengthening economic relationships between Africa and the African Diaspora. By bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, governments and community leaders across borders, reSURGEnce seeks to create new channels for investment, trade, knowledge exchange, mentorship and business collaboration.
